I was recently invited to take part in a joyful community event in Mountain View, CA — in partnership with the City of Mountain View and Pacific Clinics — where I set up a Flora Makes Me Smile Coloring Station.
It was one of those magical days where creativity and connection came together in the most heartwarming way, and I’d love to share a few of my favorite moments and reflections.
Flora Bridges Generations
What always touches me deeply is seeing how Flora brings people together—kids, parents, grandparents, teens, and even solo grown-ups, all ready to join in! The coloring station became a space where age didn’t matter. No matter who you were, you could step into Flora’s world and feel welcome, relax, and simply enjoy the fun.
Teamwork at the Table
I loved watching families and friends coloring side by side—choosing colors, swapping crayons, and cheering each other on. Some even started friendly “coloring races”—who could finish first, or who could come up with the most fun color combo. Laughter and collaboration filled the air. It wasn’t just coloring—it was about connection and making memories. Too precious.
So Many Floras, So Many Stories
When I first created Flora, I made the intentional choice to leave her skin tone blank—to let everyone imagine her in their own way, or perhaps see a bit of themselves in her. Now, seeing so many different Floras in all kinds of colors and nuances is one of the greatest joys of my work. Each version tells its own story, and every interpretation adds something beautiful to her universe.
Events like this fill me with gratitude and inspiration.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to color, connect, and create.
Flora and I loved every second of it.
With love, and a big, colorful smile,
Giada
