In Flora’s Art Room, every Experience (about 1.5/2 hours long) is shaped around a theme, and includes three parts: one INTRO with a creative warm-up activity involving Flora’s adventures, one part of ART APPRECIATION, and one part of ART MAKING. (Read more about it in the previous blog post).
Today's theme is ADVENTURES.
1. INTRO.
Look at what Flora has just found!!!! What might this key open???
A door? A treasure chest? A secret diary lock?
Sketch your ideas, and let your adventure begin!
2. ART APPRECIATION.
What's the scenario you imagine for your expedition? What kind of landscape? What colors?
This is my pick: 'Le sentier des Douanes' by Paul Signac (1905).
3. ART MAKING.
For this activity you’ll need a set of 10 adventure cards (download your free printable copy!), and a sheet of paper with distressed edges.
Let’s start by drawing the 4 basic elements of your map:
a ship
a compass
an island
an ‘X’ to mark the spot where the treasure is buried
Now, you have a bag full of adventures in your hands!!!!!! Pick the ones you’re brave enough to try ;-), or create your own, and build your trail to the treasure!
....WOW!!!
I love this! I'm using your idea as an inspiration for my students to create a treasure map of their own neighborhood. Thank you for the idea! Is it ok if I use your map picture in my google slides?
