In Flora’s Art Room, every Experience (about 1.5/2 hours long) is shaped around a theme, and includes three parts: one INTRO with a creative warm-up activity involving Flora’s adventures, one part of ART APPRECIATION, and one part of ART MAKING. (Read more about it in the previous blog post).
Today's theme is OBSERVATION.
1. INTRO.
Flora loves to observe closely the little details around her, there's so much to be curious about!
What are the things that capture your attention and interest you the most?
What's something you enjoy noticing? Sketch your ideas!
2. ART APPRECIATION.
'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte' by Georges Seurat (1884-1886) is the masterpiece I picked to represent this theme: it's full of tiny details to spot and discuss, it's the result of numerous and meticulous sketches from observation, its technique is based on scientific theories of vision.
3. ART MAKING.
For this Art Experience, I wanted to create a project to encourage curiosity, creativity, (self)exploration and expression.
An INSPIRATION NOTEBOOK will be perfect for sketching, journaling, or jotting down thoughts, stories, and ideas!
You’ll need an unruled notebook (DIY! I folded 8 letter size sheets plus a thick paper for the cover in half, then stapled all together), and a series of doodles to inspire you - I drew Art, Nature, Books, Travel elements, download your free printable pdf!!!
Draw and color the cover of your notebook on both sides, and carry it along wherever you go!
Let's fill it with words, images, stickers...
